Who says you need to spend a lot on a cake to make it beautiful? I made a chocolate cake out of a box, and with a little magic turned it into a stunning dessert. Follow these easy steps and you will be sure to wow your guests!

2. Put the cake in the freezer for about 20 minutes or so. This will cool it down and make it easier to work with.

3. I cut out a piece of cardboard for the cake to sit on. Place it on top of your cake, flip it over and remove the baking pan placing it on a silver cake tray. There are all kinds of cake trays out there, it doesn’t have to be fancy, in fact I purchased this one off ebay for $30!

4. After frosting the cake, I chopped up walnuts and with my fingers placed them around the sides, not only does this look gorgeous but it tastes great and now you don’t have to deal with trying to get your sides frosted perfectly! You can use any kind of nuts too! Pecans, peanuts, and almonds work great!

5. I used a frosting tip and a frosting bag and mixed vanilla and chocolate frosting together to make the frosting a lighter brown then the frosting on the rest of the cake to add a pretty border around the top.

6. Next I added rasberries and blackberries around the base of the cake. This gives it a nice pop of color.

7. I cut a couple red and pink roses and stuck them into the top of the cake.

8. Last but not least I added powdered sugar over the top using a sifter. It turned out gorgeous and was delicious!
