I found my desk getting covered in post its, I use them as to do lists and it was starting to look like a bomb went off. I needed a place to write ideas and reminders where I could see them without making a mess, so I came up with this easy to do chalkboard and it turned out amazing and looks so cute.

Here’s what you need:    Piece of plywood , crown molding, chalkboard spray paint, gold spray paint ( or any color you want for the frame), nails and a hammer  or a nail gun if you have one lying around, wood glue, framing bracket with nail.

photo-394-300x225I cut a piece of plywood board to 2 1/2 ft x 2 ft .

I know everyone doesn’t have a table saw so you can have this cut for you where you buy the wood.

Spray paint the plywood with your spray  chalk board paint. I sanded it a little before to make it nice and smooth but it may not be nessecary depending on the wood. Next spray paint  your crown molding. Let dry.

Next you need to secure the 4 pieces of the frame together. I am going to use a nail gun to save time but nails and a hammer work just as well.

Using a hammer and the nails that come with it, nail it in at the center top of the back side of the crown molding.

And here you have your beautiful finished chalkboard!!! Under for under $30! Can’t beat that!

* Another cute place to put a chalkboard is in your kitchen or pantry, it’s a great place to  put your grocery list!

You could even paint the back of a door in chalkboard spray paint.

This is a picture from our pantry. We painted the wall with magnetic paint then with chalk board paint and fraimed it. We write down everything we need in the house from food, stuff to get and even fun notes to each other.
