photo-44545-1Hey guys! I wanted to make a centerpiece that could sit on my table all month long and stay looking gorgeous. I decided to go with fake flowers and they great thing about using fake flowers is you can find lots of black and brown flowers for Halloween. I obviously wanted to incorporate pumpkins in my centerpiece but I wanted to go for a more elegant vibe rather that a fun Orange and Black vibe. I chose Gold, Blacks and Browns were the colors I wanted to play with, and then I was in my car and off to Michael’s!

You will need:

Pumpkins in various sizes, I uses 3 small, 2 medium and 2 large.

Spray Paint (I used gold but you can use any color or you can leave the pumpkins Orange, up to you!)

A Hat Box. (I had one just sitting in my closet but you can pick up brown hat boxes at Michael’s, really any circular box will work)

A Hot Glue gun

Gold and Black Ribbon Trim

Black Beaded Stickers

Flowers. I used all fake flowers in Black, Brown, Gold and I added in a couple Fuchsia’s for some pop. All Orange or Orange and Black would be wicked too!

Black Candles (not necessary but looks cool)

fffffffffphoto-2-11. I started by spray painting 7 pumpkins and the hat box gold.

I like using odd numbers when doing centerpieces. (Be sure to use gloves and a plastic painting mat or lots of newspaper outside)

2. I let them dry outside over night.

Next, using my hot glue gun I decorated the hat box in Gold and Black trim, adhering with the glue on the inside rim and the bottom of the box.

photo-1444-23. I decorated the pumpkins with ribbon and my black beaded stickers. These stickers work great to hide where you glue the ribbon around the stem.  I left a few pumpkins plain gold because I didn’t want it getting too busy.

4. I cut my fake flowers to size and put them in my hat box rotating all of my colors.

5. After finishing my flower arrangement  I placed my pumpkins, starting with the largest closest to the hat box on both size and then worked my way outwards with the rest.

Aside from the drying time for the paint this arrangement took less than an hour and was under $50.

Please feel free to email me or tweet me pics of  your finished centerpiece!  I hope this idea will spark a lot of creativity for you and I can’t wait to see what you create!
