photo-4-2I thought it would be fun to put a different spin on pumpkins this year rather than only carving them (which I love too!)

The good thing about decorating pumpkins instead of carving them is that they will last you for much longer and will last for weeks without rotting. I added ribbon, felt leafs and green wire to embellish these pumpkins.

I think it adds a bit of class to your ordinary pumpkin and this idea is great for Halloween and Thanksgiving as well!

Here is what you will need:

Four sheets of Felt $0.29 per sheet

Green or Brown Wire $3

2 inch or wider Wired Ribbonc$3

A needle and thread or a sewing machine

A few sewing pins

Black Gloss Spray Paint

Painters Masking Tape

picture-3-300x21412. For the leafs we will be using 2 different colors, Brown and Red. On my Brown Felt I traced a leaf, there is no right or wrong way to do this and the bigger the better. I cut it out and then put it on top of my Red felt, pinned it in place using a sewing pin to keep it in place.

Then I cut around the brown leaf giving about a half inch around for the Red. So when you put them together you have Brown with a Red border.

3. I pinned the Brown leaf on top of the Red Leaf and using my sewing machine or a needle and thread securing the two leafs together around the edge of where the Brown felt meets the Red Felt. After you have a seam around the leaf, make an additional seam a half inch in from your first seam. This is creating a (funnel) if you will which you will put wire through later.

4. Once you have your leafs sewed together you will take your wire and put it through your (funnel) that you have created. Using your wire glide it thru your funnel, you may need to cut it into pieces for you to get it thru the entire leaf.

6. Using the Green Wire I wrapped it around a #2 pencil to make coils and placed them arounf the stem of the pumpkin with sewing pins.

7. I tied a bow with my wired ribbon and cut the ends to the lenght I wanted.

It’s that simple and looks amazing!

xoxo Have fun!
