red-lips-2-218x300What girl doesn’t want a perfect pout? There is nothing sexier than to die for lips.

Whatever your lip shape, if you follow these tips you will have flawless lips every time and make your lip color last for hours.

Step 1

Get your lips soft and smooth.

Applying lipstick over lips that are dry or chapped is a nightmare. I recommend using a light soothing lip scrub.

Mix a little honey with brown sugar. Rub on your lips, if you have a lot of dead skin gently go over them with a toothbrush with the scrub. The honey and sugar combo will also plump up the collagen giving you temporarily fuller lips!

Step 2

Now that you have smooth plumped up lips you are ready to line. Use a lip liner matching the lipstick you will be wearing. It doesn’t have to be an exact match but the closer the better. Line your lips and fill them in so you don’t have a line around the outside. You can have fun and experiment with the peaks of your lip changing your lip shape. If you want a bigger top lip you can use your liner to connect the two points of your lips into a straight line, this gives you more of a uni-lip, or you can give the peaks stronger points giving you more of a bow tie look.

It’s fun to play around and experiment. As for the rest of your lips the biggest mistake women make is lining outside of the natural lip line, this is not a good look. Always want to make sure you blend your liner to avoid heavy lines.

A GREAT lip plumper is DuWop Lip Venom. $16

This will really plump up your lips. Leave on for 10 minutes then wipe it off.

Step 3

Set the liner by lightly dusting translucent (any powder on the sheer side) over your lips.

Step 4

Apply the first layer of your chosen lipstick with a lip brush. I love Mac brushes. Paying close attention to the edges and not to go over, if you get out of the lines a little it’s ok, we will clean it up with concealer later. Blot off excess oil by pressing your lips on facial tissue.

Step 5

Repeat step 4 and Step 5. This really sets the color making it last all day.

Step 6

Clean up any lipstick that is out side of the lip with a Q tip. Then dab with a concealer brush. I like Mac 212.

Step 7

Apply your chosen lip gloss, I usually try to get the gloss as close to the lipstick color as possible but you can always play around with pink on red or pink on nude or whatever floats your boat.

501497040_shrnjsvr_c_large-300x198* If you are donig red lips a fun trick is before you apply your gloss, dab the middle of your lip with pink lipstick, this will give you some great definition.

* Putting a dab of concealer in the middle of your bottom lip will make it look bigger.

rby-mac-clear-lipglass-de1-150x150* Only applying gloss on the center of your top and bottom lips will give them more definition and make them look bigger. I like to do this with a white or clear shimmery gloss.

Your lipstick is now able to outlast anything, even kissing.
