When entertaining there are some fantastic shorcuts that can be taken to wow your guests without breaking the bank. When I have friends over I always try to have some munchies to snack on when they arrive before we start dinner as well as a nice glass of wine or two. My absolute favorite snack to serve is cheese with crackers, grapes and a bit of honey.
This brings us to the question of what to serve it on? After I did a lot of shopping for the perfect cheese platter I ended up empty handed because there was no way I was going to pay from $50 to $100 for a block of marble. I found something just as great if not better and much, much less expensive! I have 2 words for you. Home Depot.
Are you scratching your head right now? I bet you never thought of Home Depot and Entertaining in the same sentence did you? Well get ready to be amazed! After all my unsuccessful cheese platter shopping I asked myself, where can I find pretty stone without the price tag?
Ding ding ding, Home Depot. I headed over there and found a beautiful square foot piece of Grecian marble for $5.99 Took it home, ran it through the dishwasher, and used it to beautifully serve all of my favorite cheeses on it.
No one even thought for a second that this was a piece of marble tile!
Best $6 investment I have ever made! I hope this inspires you to think outside of the box to get the look you want! Not only is it fantastic saving money but it’s so much more fun being creative!
