pink-oharaHave you ever seen those giant hurricane candles at weddings or parties with fresh roses wrapped around the top of the glass cylinder?

Well, if you haven’t they are absolutely gorgeous and a major statement piece adding an extra touch of elegance for any special occasion or party. Right now I’m in the middle of planning my wedding and I want to share with you a fabulous trick I learned on how to create these beautiful candle arrangements straight from Marks Garden who is helping me with our flowers.

First of all I love this project because not only is it stunning but it’s super simple to do and it’s going to blow all of your guests away! This is a great tip to get a professional looking flower arrangement without spending a lot.

You’re going to start out by grabbing a cardboard box and cutting strips about 3-4 inches wide and long enough to wrap around your glass vase using an exacto knife.

Next, using ribbon wide enough to cover your cardboard strip glueing it in place with a hot glue gun leaving about 10 inches on each side of the cardboard for the tie. Whatever color ribbon you choose make sure it coordinates with your flowers.

Now cut off the stems of whatever flowers you’re using. I prefer roses for this project but you can use whatever flowers tickles your fancy. Now using your hot glue gun glue the flowers into place on your cardboard directly on top of the ribbon, continue this until the entire cardboard strip is covered completely. Last but not least wrap the strip around the top of your candle holder and tie into a bow and that’s it, it’s that simple! You’re done. Covering candle holders isn’t the only way you can use these strips either, they make beautiful tie backs for your curtains or if you are throwing a party in a tent. They also go great around the top of vases to hold flower arrangements. They can also be used around the top of a bar or bigger strips as a gorgeous table runner. The possibilities are endless so get creative and have fun with this one!
