tomfordbeauty_purple_eyeshadow_1I can’t believe it but Fall is nearly here! This season is awakening lots of new bold and fresh trends from purple eye shadows to dark gray metallic nails and messy buns. I’m going to be sharing my favorite top 5 beauty trends in the next week that are fun, fresh and are fabulous way to shake up your look this season without spending a lot!

Trend 1. Purple Eyeshadow. I used to steer clear of bright and bold eye shadows because I was afraid of looking like a clown. (I had some bad experiences with blue eyeshadow in high school and I swore I would never go back!) I’m sure you or someone you know has had a similar experience but I’m here to show you how if applied right, a touch of a bold hue can be fierce and dramatic without looking tacky.

I’m obsessed with purple because it is such an easy color for every woman to wear no matter your skin tone or eye color. Here are a few budget friendly picks and tricks to get the perfect violet hue to go with all of your Fall looks and turn heads throughout this season.

screen-shot-2014-09-11-at-2-36-58-pmTo apply start with a light base all over  your lid a powder or a cream is great for this depending on the look you’re going for. The cream base will make it a little more smudgy and less polished. Next apply a medium shade to the center of your lid and along your bottom lash line followed by the darkest shade on the outer lid and crease. Now using a medium shade preferably with some warmth (more of a plum tone) apply it in the crease of your eye blending outwards.

Next up, line however you want. In the top picture Lara Stone has purple eyeliner that had been blended avoiding the inner eye. If you want more of a smokey look go with a black liner. Now rim and wing out the liner depending on what look you prefer making a cat eye and blend as desired to give you a smokey effect. Pop a hint of a white or light shimmer in the corner to brighten your whites and open your eyes up. Then last but not least, curl your lashes and apply mascara.
