margaritaMore from How2Girl Holiday Gift Week on CBS LA—tonight we shared one of our favorite ideas: Click here to watch!  a margarita kit with lots of inspired Mexican “ingredients.” What’s so fabulous about kits is that it’s more about the idea of putting the pieces together as a gift for someone—and then you DIY it with a bit of flair. For this kit, I started with a wood tray and created a festive border with a colorful pom-pom trim—just grabbed my glue gun and affixed the trim all around. I let it dry (super quick and secure) and added some colorful shredded fill for a base. Then it was time to add the kit elements including a set of Mexican inspired coasters, two beautiful margarita glasses, shot glasses, a measuring glass, gourmet salts to rim the drinks, my favorite Casamigos tequila made by friends Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford along with their friend George Clooney, spicy nuts, hot sauce and a festive print Mexican pillow. As a twist on a typical cellophane wrapping and in  keeping with the vibrant color scheme, I wrapped the kit in a hot pink tulle—you can still see the kit and all its elements through the fabric and it adds an amazing punch to the presentation. I wrapped it around, secured it with a band, trim the excess and then slipped on a few Mexican Christmas ornaments as finishing touch. Ole!
