I recently sat down with Glamour Italia to dish my 6 must have chokers for spring inspired by my favorite red carpet gowns this past award season. As you would guess, the article is in Italian so I have translated it for you here!

Bright Yellow/Flower Power The Golden Globes and SAG Awards were in bright and festive and in full bloom with celebs like Salma Hayek who crowned her asymmetrical yellow Gucci with an oversized bloom at her shoulder.

Choker Inspo: Trim yellow ribbon in satin or velvet to fit around neck with length left to tie. Hot glue on blush and pink silk flowers. Secure in back by tying ends into a bow.

Blush and Stars Emma Stone shined at the Golden Globes in a blush gown brushed with silver stars.

Choker Inspo: Trim a blush satin ribbon, leaving enough length to tie into a bow. Using fabric glue, cover surface of ribbon with silver mesh fabric. Sew on silver star sequins in place. Secure in back by tying ends into a bow.

Shiny Stuff  When the Golden Globes kicked off awards season, sparkles ruled the red carpet—and then the SAG awards gave us plenty of on-trend iridescence as well. Priyanka Chopra wore a sophisticated gold Ralph Lauren. The beautiful Blake Lively’s Atelier Versace had metallic trim for just a pop of shine while Gwendoline Christie went sparkly all over in her Vivienne Westwood Couture ensemble.

Choker Inspo: Purchase 3 types of metallic fabric or trim. Using fabric glue. layer pieces on top of each other or sew together by hand or with a machine. Trim off extra fabric. Secure with adhesive Velcro dots, two per side.

Sheer Silk and Sequins Kate Hudson rocked the red carpet in her super sexy black on black Christian Dior ensemble.

Choker Inspo: Trim black silk fabric to size. Using a hot glue gun, adhere two pieces of sequin trim to top and bottom of fabric strip. Hot glue 2 pieces of black thin satin ribbon to each side of back of choker and tie in a bow to secure.

Blush and Bling Taraji P. Henson stunned in her blush sheer Reem Acra, set with sparkly flourishes all over.

Choker Inspo: Cut nude mesh fabric into a 4-to-5 inch strip. Fold in half. Adhere together using either fabric glue or a sewing machine. Fold to hide seam in back. Flatten and add crystals using a hot glue gun. You can also use earrings or costume jewelry; to do, snap post off earring with pliers before gluing. Tie a thin satin ribbon into a bow and adhere to top center of choker back center of bow knot with hot glue. Secure using two Velcro dots on each end of choker.

Sequin Patches Not only did Nicole Kidman kill it in her green Gucci with ah-mazing shoulder patches, but these sparkly patches are making their way to great success across may of the fashion show runways.

Choker Inspo: Cut green sequin fabric to 6 inches. Fold in half. Adhere together using either fabric glue or a sewing machine. Fold to hide seam in back. Add sequin patch off to one side of choker using a hot glue gun. Secure using two Velcro dots on each end of choker to secure.
