Nothing works wonders for your face like having the perfect brow but no brow comes naturally groomed and gorgeous. If it’s not in your budget to travel to Beverly Hills to visit Anastasia, the world famous eyebrow guru behind the arches of.  J.Lo, and Madonna, then you will love these easy to follow steps to getting show stopping brows every time.  Just look at what a difference having well defined brows make.

Step 1: Shaping

eyebrows110-225x300Waxing my eyebrows makes me very nervous so I prefer tweezing. Using this guide you see where the brow should start, arch and end.

This guide works universally for all eyebrows. Following the guide use a pencil to give you a straight line and check where it should start, stop and arch. Your brow should never go further than where these lines stop. Start tweezing slowly, you can always do more, there is nothing worse than over tweezing!

It’s great because it also has an eyebrow brush which you will be using later. Use the wand to brush you brows up. Now using small scissors trim the excess hair that is brushed up above the eyebrow.

Step 2: Accentuating

I prefer using shadows to pencils when filling in the brow, because they are easier to work with. You need two eye shadows one darker that matches your brow color and one a few shades lighter. For my brow colors I use a duo dark brown and a light brown compact by Anastasia. Laura Mercier and Maybelinne make great compacts too.

  1.  You want to take your brush (preferably with an angle, the stiffer the better) with your dark shadow draw a light line from the bottom of your brow to the bottom of your arch leaving the inner part alone. You don’t want that to be extremely defined.
  2. With long strokes work your way upwards lightly blending the line.brow-powder-medium-ash-pdi-golden-ratio-copy1-207x300
  3.  Using the lighter shadow, slowly shade in with long strokes moving in towards the arch of the eyebrow.
  4. With the darker shadow start from underneath the arch and bring down. It can be a little darker because it is  defining the brow.
  5. Using the lighter shadow shape the arch, I like to go more in the shape of a u than a v, but this is up to you.
  6. With the lighter shadow, use short strokes at the inner part to shape and blend feathering it out and keeping it light.
  7. For a little extra pop use a flat brush, I like Mac 212 with a conceler and put a little directly under the brow and blend.
  8. Last but not least use a brow gel or clear mascara to set your brows.

Anastasia makes a great one in brown that I love but there are a ton of great ones.

Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get it perfect the first time or two, I promise you’ll get the hang of it!
